Winter Weather Styles 2009

blackjacketWhen the weather gets cold - you have to keep dressing warmer. What are the winter weather styles for 2009?

Lets start with the most important layer - a good coat. Depending on your budget a nice coat can be anywhere from $100 - $1,000. I know it is a big price range, but remember you are going to get what you pay for. When looking at winter jackets there are a few things to keep in mind. First of all, you want it to be warm - the whole point of a jacket is to keep you warm and toasty. The second thing to consider is versatility. The more versatile the jacket the better - think of it like this, a black jacket vs. a bright colored plaid jacket - which one are you going to get the most use out of? Last but not least you have to remember a flattering fit. You do not want to look like a marshmallow! Choose a style that is flattering to your figure and your pocket book.

Once you have found the perfect winter jacket the next step is to find the perfect boots. During the wintertime a good warm pair of boots can provide good insulation all winter long. Whether you go with ankle boots or knee high boots make sure they are the right fit for you. This winter boots are hotter then ever - be sure to check out all the latest styles such as tie up boots, lace up boots and even cut out shoes!

So you have the shoes and the jacket it is now time to think about the perfect winter hat. I myself am a visor bean fan. They are warm, cute and very stylish. They are also very affordable. Not only do they come in a variety of colors and styles but they are very versatile and can be worn with just about anything!

I hope these styles give you a jump-start for your winter wardrobe!

What’s New With The Trend Reports

drapes If you are wondering what is at the top of the trends reports - look no farther then right here. Below I have listed the top 6 trends for 2009.

1. Biker brigade - That is right designers went hog wild with this trend. They took the original bikers jacket and turned it into a tough chick must have. A new look for a biker jacket by tapering the jacket and shortening the length.

2. Boudoir Crossing - All eyes are on the bust this fall. From lacy to leather this is a risky look to pull off!

3. Forties and fabulous - You guessed it - we are going back to the forties for fashion tips!

4. Party like it is 1983 - Getting a little closer to this generation - the eighties are full of metallic and acid wash jeans. Who can forget those looks? Apparently not all the latest designers.

5.  Ruche Hour - Drapes are back and bigger and better then ever. Layers are a must have along with enough fabric for extra draping.

6. Smart Investments - Can anyone say camel hair? Risky times call for risky measures - from camel hair suits to classic pin stripes.

As you can see it is going to be an interesting future…for the runways!

Well unfortunately it is true that summer is almost over and it is time to start thinking about fall fashion. So what are the new top fall trends for Fall 2009?

1. Lets start with a classic - the fitted jacket. Now ladies the jacket should be fitted to show off some of those curves.

2. A crisp white shirt with long sleeves - a must have for your fall collection. The varieties are endless from cotton to a nice stretch material.

3. Solid black pantsuit - the most flattering outfit for a workingwomen and a classic look.

4. Can you say turtle neck… don’t worry we are talking about the sweater turtle neck that always helps bring your face into focus and has earned its place as a must have for the fall.

5. Neutral colored jackets - it will go with everything in your closet - that’s why :)

How To Glow All Summer Long

spraytan If you want a nice glow all summer long but you don’t want to damage your skin I have the perfect solution. The answer to all your summer needs is an airbrush tan. Unlike the sun airbrush tans are UV free and do not cause premature aging or cancer!

If you have never had an airbrush tan I encourage you to give it a try! I have only done it a couple times in my life, but I have always been happy with the results.

The first time I had an airbrush tan done it was before my sister’s wedding. All of the bridesmaids and my sister the bride decided to do it. Everyone’s tan turned out pretty good. Keep in mind her wedding was 4 years ago and technology has improved a lot.

The only complaint to our tan back then was it did rub off a little on our dresses. Other then that they looked natural and everyone had there own glow. Since then I think the salons have mastered the art of airbrush tanning.  They can even match the color of tan they use to your skin tone!

I plan on getting an airbrush tan for my wedding day! I am so excited to have it done – I will keep you all posted on how it goes ☺

You guessed it…Swimwear Season

It is that time a year again where we bear all in swimwear. What are the latest styles when it comes to swimsuits? How do you know what swimsuit is going to look the best on your body type?

When it comes to the latest styles on swimwear it seems like not much has changed. Sexy swimwear has always been a trend and this season is no exception. Two-piece swimwear is everywhere and you can even find an occasional one-piece suit that is super stylish.

The latest trend I have seen with swimwear is a two-piece suit joined by a strip of fabric down the middle joining the two pieces like Audrina wore in the last episode of The Hills.

As far as what swimsuit looks best on what body type …whether you have a large stomach, large hips, large chest or combination problems the right swimsuit can take pounds off you!

Large Stomach – Be sure to choose bold colors and patterns. Doing so is great for distracting away from the stomach area.  Also if you choose a swimsuit that has a pattern in the chest area it will also pull attention away from your stomach. Tankinis work great because they cover up any bugles and unwanted roles.

Large Butt – Always wear darker colors they do a great job slimming problem areas. Large prints also do the same thing. Go for a higher cut leg and avoid Boy shorts – they only make your butt appear bigger!

Wide Hips – Go with dark colors and large prints. Avoid lighter colors and small floral prints.  Also anything that can draw attention to your bust will take away attention to your hips ☺

Spring and Summer are in the Air

yellowdress Spring is right around the corner and after Spring comes Summer! Are you ready for it? I sure am! I am ready to put away the jeans and sweatshirts and start getting into my tee shirts, tank tops and capries. When I look outside the sun is shining and the trees are blooming. What do we have to look forward to this Spring and Summer?

One of the first thing that comes to mind is color! Currently on the runways there is a lot of bright pink, bright blue and you guessed it bright yellow! Bright Yellow is back and better then ever but don’t even think about pairing it with black (too eighties and you will look like a bee!) instead wear yellow with white denim, blue denim or your favorite kaki skirt.

Another trend that is hot right now is the tribal look. You know what I am talking about animal prints and chunky jewelry. But be careful not to wear too much variety you can turn out looking like a Halloween costume gone wrong!

Another trend to keep your eye out on is cropped pants. It is a cross between a Capri pant and a full-length pant. A little longer then a Capri but shorter then a regular length pant. They are short enough to show off your hot new heals or Summer sandals.

Last but not least saving money is in style! It takes a suffering economy to make this new chic trend - but it has happened! Shopping at places like Target and H & M have never been more popular. Eco friendly clothing that will stand the test of time is the best way to go. Classic summer dresses, tank tops and shorts can be found in a variety of colors and styles.

Happy Shopping!

What do the 30 Something’s Wear

I am not thirty yet but I do spend my time with a lot of thirty something’s. Most of my friends that are in there thirties have kids. With kids your whole wardrobe changes! Instead of being so concerned about what you are wearing you are even more concerned about if what your wearing is comfortable and stylish. Trust me I have seen this first hand many times.

I personally love the longer sweaters that seem to be flattering on many shapes and sizes. They meet both qualities of being comfortable and fashionable at the same time.  I went shopping for sweaters and was surprised at how flattering the right sweater can really be. Another great way to combine comfort with style is layering. Not only is layering clothing flattering to any figure it also adds a sense of style to any outfit.

For ladies in there thirties dark colors are always flattering. Dark colors are great for slimming any size and also great against spots and stains caused by the kids. Believe me if you have kids you have spots you did not even know existed. Be smart in what you choose to wear and you will always look and feel your best.
